CRIME
Artist Lee Wen was hospitalized while visiting Hong Kong for Art Basel in Hong Kong, allegedly because he was attacked and beaten. The artist had just given a talk in which he bemoaned the Chinese government’s censorship practices, though some suggest that the artist’s ill health may actually just have fallen over.

Ben Davis visited the New Museum and spent some time in Roberto Cuoghi’s Assyrian chamber of sorrows, which, he says, may well be more instructive about a certain type of contemporary art-making than about the music of ancient Assyria.
PROTEST
Protesters demonstrated outside the Dia Art Foundation’s offices in Chelsea over the institution’s Carl Andre retrospective, spilling chicken blood and innards at the building’s doorstep in homage to a performance by Andre’s late wife, Ana Mendieta, whom many believe Andre murdered.
