The Asia Society will host its second annual gala during this year’s Art Basel Hong Kong. The event, which will be held on Monday, 12 May 2014 at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center and the nearby Conrad Hotel, will serve as a celebration of the fair’s global focus on Asian art, and honor artists Bharti Kher, Liu Guosong, Takashi Murakami, and Zhang Xiaogang.

In attendance for the evening will be a number of major collectors, artists, gallerists, and dignitaries, in addition to Asia Society trustees and patrons. Melissa Chiu, the director of Asia Society Museum in New York and senior vice president for global arts and cultural programs for Asia Society, will host the evening, which will draw guests from all over the world.

Kicking off the event at the Asia Society center will be a cocktail reception and auction viewing, featuring Xu Bing‘s first major solo exhibition in Hong Kong. The benefit auction will include work by Subodh Gupta, Lee Ufan, and Eko Nugroho. A seated dinner, silent auction, and presentation for the artist honorees will follow at the Conrad Hotel.
