Chris Brown’s Art Finds Eager Buyers at Miami Street Art Auction

The often controversial and decidedly mercurial pop singer-actor-dancer Chris Brown has added another entry to his list of identities: fine artist. The products of Brown’s collaboration with street artist KAI, under the moniker “Konfuzed,” were well received at a February 16 street art sale held by Fine Art Auctions Miami (FAAM). Their work appeared alongside better-known street artists like Keith Haring, Faile, Kaws, and Shepard Fairey (see Take An Exclusive Look at Shepard Fairey’s Portlandia Cameo).

Brown and KAI’s project reportedly took place over three days and yielded seven pieces, as well as one on the hood of a Porsche (where the letters LV stand for “lost values,” according to Chris Brown’s Twitter account). Two of the canvases sold for $25,000 each, and a third went for almost $12,000, according to Page Six. Half of the proceeds will benefit the Arts and Business Council of Miami. The sale and related events were all part of FAAM’s week devoted to urban and street art, which takes place in the Wynwood District, a burgeoning design district northwest of South Beach.

Brown is currently on his “Between the Sheets” tour after several scheduling hiccups due to court-mandated community service. Now, the singer is performing in front of sold-out stadiums, BET reports.
