Koonsmania continues. Hot on the heels of his critically-acclaimed Whitney Museum retrospective, the American star artist has produced a virtual artwork for the Fall/Winter issue of Garage Magazine, created and edited by the art world’s It-girl (and founder of Moscow’s Garage Museum of Contemporary Art) Dasha Zhukova. Koon’s piece, titled Lady Bug, can only be accessed by scanning the pages of the magazine with the Garage Mag app, which allows users to virtually walk around the digital sculpture and see it from all angles.

The two available covers of this issue feature female models turned into Koon’s “Rabbit” sculptures, complete with shiny metallic skins and bunny ears. In its short life, the London-based Garage Magazine has built a reputation for its sensational shticks. The first issue, launched in 2011, featured a naked model with a Damien Hirst butterfly tattooed on her intimate parts, triggering a ban from leading UK newsagent WHSmith.

Koons’ work is also gracing the cover of Artforum‘s September issue,  in which artists such as Carol Bove, Cory Arcangel, and Rachel Harrison were invited to write about Koon’s enduring influence on the younger generation.

“Garage has always aspired to push the physical limits of a magazine,” Zhukova said in a statement quoted in the New York Times. “We are excited to have collaborated with Jeff Koons on his first virtual sculpture.”
