Highlights from this week’s roundup include big changes at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Arts and Design, and the Australian Museum, among others.

The Art Institute of Chicago announced the appointment of Alison D. Sowden as the organization’s new executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Katya García-Antón was appointed the new director of the Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA). Since training in art history at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, she has been affiliated with several major international art institutions, including the Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva; the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid; the Museu d’Arte Moderno de São Paulo; the Institute of Contemporary Art, London; and IKON in Birmingham.

The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) announced that Sona Datta, Ph.D., will be its new curator of Indian and South Asian Art. Datta comes to the PEM from the British Museum in London, where, during her eight-year tenure as art historian and curator, she specialized in the visual culture of South Asia.

Marie Muracciole will be the new director of the Beirut Art Center. An art historian, critic, and independent curator, Muracciole served as head of the cultural department at Paris’s Jeu de Paume from 2006 until 2011. She is also a cinema and video theory professor at the École Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Bordeaux.

Team Gallery director Miriam Katzeff announced her plans to step down from her position at the gallery in order to devote her time to Primary Information, the nonprofit publishing organization that she has run with artist James Hoff since 2006.

Stuart Horodner was named the new director of the Art Museum at the University of Kentucky. He’ll be leaving the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, where he was artistic director.

Robert Cundall will be joining the Museum of Arts and Design as its new deputy director and chief operating officer. Cundall was most recently COO at the Seattle Art Museum, and has worked in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors.

Kim McKay was appointed as the director of the Australian Museum for the next five years. McKay, who was previously a trustee of the Australian Museum, has held senior roles with National Geographic as well as running her own consulting business.

The Trustees of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park have elected Greville Worthington as the new chair of the board of trustees. As a writer, art collector, and curator, he has curated numerous contemporary art exhibitions at museums and galleries throughout the UK.

Mary Boone Gallery announced that Piper Marshall, who recently left the Swiss Institute, will curate six shows a year over the next three years at the gallery. Marshall’s new position represents the first time Mary Boone has brought a curator on board to focus on monographic exhibitions. Marshall brings to the gallery her knowledge of and relationships with both younger and more established artists.

Paddle8 appointed two new specialists, bringing their global specialist team of art and design experts to 10. Matthew Knight and Vivian Brodie join as specialist and junior specialist, respectively. They will be responsible for securing consignments for Paddle8’s auctions.

Joseph Neubauer was elected Chairman of the Barnes Foundation’s board of trustees. Neubauer has served on the Barnes Foundation board since 2005, and as vice chairman since 2008.

Dr. Tricia Y. Paik was announced as the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s new curator of contemporary art. Paik currently serves as the associate curator of modern and contemporary art at the Saint Louis Art Museum, and has previously held positions at the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She will join the IMA in the summer of 2014.
