Indie film goddess Parker Posey, along with former Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens are among those performing humorous, passionate tales about “art and those who make it.”

The three great artists (Frank, Worth, Desiderio) and one critic (Kuspit) on this panel will discuss figurative art through time, how technology has impacted it and altered perceptions of the human form.

Ben Schumacher’s “New York City Farm Tower” opens at Bortolami Gallery
Having been trained as one, Schumacher approaches his art-making like an architect, infusing steel, new technologies, like 3-D printing, and on occasion, organic materials. Often working with other artists, architects, or academics, Schumacher’s second solo show at the gallery will feature several sound-based performances by various collaborators transmitted live from New York City’s High Line.

Mike Nelson’s “Gang of Seven” opens at 303 Gallery
For his second solo show with the gallery, Mike Nelson presents “Gang of Seven” a group of assemblages made from items found by a “mythical beachcomber” in the flotsam and jetsam of the North West Pacific Coast.

The Modern Party at MoMA
At this inaugural event, MoMA members will get a private view of all of the museum’s galleries, which are currently showing the fantastic exhibition “Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs,” the group show “The Forever Now” where you can wrap yourself in a work by Oscar Murillo (see Instagrammers Step on Oscar Murillo), and “Cut to Swipe.” There’s also live entertainment, an open bar, and dessert.

“Call and Response” opens at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise
A group show with too many alluring artists to pass up including Katherine Bernhardt, Jamian Juliano-Villani, Sanya Kantarovsky, Laura Owens, Josh Smith, Joe Bradley, and Ella Kruglyanskaya.

Ryder Ripps “Ho” at Postmasters Gallery
In his first solo show, Ryder Ripps will show large scale portrait paintings inspired by the Instagram feed of the model Adrianne Ho. “If you’re not making an impact on many people,” Ripps told Paddy Johnson of Art F City, “you’re not going to be a known artist. There’s the folk model, the Henry Dargers of the world who get discovered after the fact, but to me that’s really bleak and not glamorous at all.”
