Artists in Pakistan Unfurl Large Picture of a Child to Protest Against Drone Attacks
“Bug splats”: that’s how some of the military refers to drones kills. A group of artists calling itself #NotABugSplat has set out to highlight the plight of the civilians affected by attacks in Pakistan. In a field in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, it installed a 90 by 60 feet vinyl picture of a child whose parents were killed by a drone, the Independent reports.
“Now, when viewed by a drone camera, what an operator sees on his screen is not an anonymous dot on the landscape, but an innocent child victim’s face,” the group states on their website. The image stayed for two weeks, and was then taken away by the local population to use as roofing.
