A mobile art exhibition located in the back of a truck is to travel to various locations around Berlin over the next month, Monopol reports.

The project was conceived by alternative Berlin-based auction house Les Prochains and local radio station RBB in order to expose more people to art. “Our idea is to introduce people to art who may be intimidated by the atmosphere inside a gallery” Ulrike Demmer told the magazine. Demmer runs Les Prochains together with Bettina Springer.

The art truck will showcase several emerging artists as well as some established names such as Kerstin Drechsel and Roman Lipski. Exhibitions will be accompanied by a series of talks and interviews. The tour will end with an auction to sell the art on the September 27.

The art truck is the latest in a growing trend sparked by young art professionals seeking to break the mold of the sometimes-insular art industry by developing new and unexpected environments to showcase artists’ work.

In May the New York Times reported on the mobile Rodi Gallery started by recent art school graduate Aaron Graham and his mother Elise. The mother-son duo invited viewers inside the back of their 12-foot-long van which traveled around various locations in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn.
