German artist Michael Riedel has been tapped to create the latest of Absolut’s art bars at Paris’ Palais de Tokyo. Opening April 24th, the new installation follows Riedel’s successful Jacques Comité (Giacometti) bar at the museum last summer.

This time around, Albrecht Dürer is in Riedel’s crosshairs. For Dual Air [Dürer], he took a seven-hour long sound recording of the teardown of the Städel Museum’s blockbuster Dürer show in his hometown of Frankfurt this past winter.

He subsequently ran the recording through a voice recognition program, pulling out all the “I”s. The resulting pattern of letters will cover the entire bar at the Palais de Tokyo.

At home, Riedel is known for his ongoing series of dinner party interventions. In Paris, series of talks and lectures accompanies cocktails of Riedel’s own invention.
