The Italian street artist Fabrizio Ceruso, better known as Blu, has painted a new mural in Rome, Complex reports.

The vast artwork, taking up the entire side of a house, depicts a cargo ship loaded with construction cranes and excavators being attacked by a regiment of red-flag carrying soldiers. The sky is evocative of an imminent storm, yet the sun shines brightly in the mural’s corner. The choppy green sea adds a sense of drama to the piece.

According to Street Art News, Blu painted the mural without the help of a scissor lift, using only rappelling ropes to dangle above the Italian capital’s streets.

Blu’s work has appeared all across the globe, popping up in Europe, South America, the USA, and in the West Bank. His work often deals with political themes and directly reflects the area in which it is painted.

One of artists’ most famous artworks in Berlin has recently gained media attention, when it emerged that a real estate development firm is seeking permission to tear down the building on which the mural is painted. They hope to make room for an apartment complex in the city’s Kreuzberg district (see “Berlin’s Most Famous Mural to be Torn Down“).
