Ryan Seacrest Joins LACMA’s Board of Trustees

Ryan Seacrest has long had a reputation for being chronically over-employed. Since coming to prominence as the host of Fox’s American Idol in 2002, the television and radio personality has held so many jobs that it’s easy to lose track. Now, in addition to his ongoing gigs hosting On Air With Ryan Seacrest and American Top 40 (the iconic radio program created by DJ Casey Kasem, who died this weekend), executive producing and hosting Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, producing Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and preparing for the launch of a new clothing  line, “Ryan Seacrest Distinction” (coming to Macy’s this fall), Seacrest has just been named a trustee by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

In April, Seacrest attended the 35th anniversary party for the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, telling the New York Times “I would like to become an art collector.” His newly announced involvement at LACMA suggests he was serious about taking up a new hobby—though artnet News isn’t sure where he’ll find the time to do so! According to the museum’s press release, his interests are in postwar and contemporary art.

Seacrest’s fellow appointees include Metropolitan Opera chairman Ann Ziff. He is not the only LACMA board member with Hollywood connections. In 2011, actor Will Ferrell’s wife, Viveca Paulin, was also named to a trustee position.
