If you’re an artist and you’d like to see your work in a lush, sprawling Hudson Valley setting, brush up your CV. New York State’s Storm King, an open-air museum and sculpture center founded in 1960 in Mountainville, has announced it will host an artist residency program organized by The Shandaken Project, a residency program formerly held in the Catskills, in a two-year partnership.

Artists will have the run of Storm King’s 500-acre site as well as private studio space. With only three artists on site at a time in residencies lasting two to six weeks, that’s a lot of square footage.

An open call begins today and closes February 20. Participants from all disciplines are invited to apply. The winners will be selected by an anonymous panel of art world professionals and announced in March.

Participants of The Shandaken Project at Storm King will also be invited to propose ideas for Wanderings and Wonderings, in which Storm King works with poets, artist, scholars, and performers to develop public programs.
