Take an Arty Booze Cruise on the Thames

Doug Fishbone is once again donning his captain’s cap. Starting this weekend, the American conceptual artist is bringing back his much-loved psycho-geographic tour of London’s shores while bobbing along on the River Thames. The performance-cum-stand-up-routine, when premiered at the Mayor’s Thames Festival in September 2013, treats guests to a mishmash of odd facts and personal anecdotes, the whole delivered as he races through a powerpoint presentation made with hundreds of images downloaded from the Internet.

Fishbone is best known for his feature film Elmina, in which he plays a Ghanaian farmer in an otherwise completely African drama. The film was premiered at Tate Modern in 2010 and went on to be nominated for an African Movie Academy Award in Nigeria in 2011.
