The fourth edition of Masterpiece London kicks off this Wednesday, with over 150 exhibitors representing more than 11 different countries. The South Grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea will provide the perfect backdrop for the exquisite art, antiques, and Design displayed within. After a careful selection process by a committee of veteran experts, more than 20 new exhibitors will be featured this year.

The fair will provide a truly unique opportunity for both collecting and viewing works of different disciplines. Masterpiece London distinguishes itself from other art fairs by offering a wide spectrum of objects, from vintage cars, furniture, sculpture, and Decorative Art to a large pearl once owned by Mary Tudor. Interior decorators will flock to London this week to view the mix of traditional, eclectic, and contemporary works on display. A representation of medieval and renaissance works, as well as classical and pre-classical pieces, will also be on view, drawing international collectors seeking a purely visual experience.

The fair will also feature Old Master paintings and famous Contemporary and Modern works. For those looking to gain knowledge in a particular field, exhibitors will be providing insights into their genres of expertise, offering an educational experience from the most established collectors around the globe.

Many seldom-seen works will be unveiled at the fair this year. Puzzle Portrait, a painting by Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein (American, 1923–1997), will be for sale at Geoffrey Diner Gallery. Purchased directly from the artist himself, the piece makes its official debut on the market this week. Long-Sharp Gallery at stand A11 will exhibit its signature collection of rare works on paper. Not to be missed at this stand are Femme, a 1901 watercolor by Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881–1973), Six Contes fantasques, one of three pre-steel facing hand-signed suites by Picasso, and an extraordinary series of early 1950s works by Andy Warhol (American, 1928–1987).

Sculpture Walk will be a new addition to the fair this year. The walk, which is free to the public, was curated by Michael Hue-Williams, and will include works by artists such as Richard Serra (American, b.1939), Tony Cragg (British, b.1949), and Wim Delvoye (Belgian, b.1965).

The fair will nears its end on July 2, with the Masterpiece Midsummer party for one of the United Kingdom’s leading charities, Marie Curie. This beloved organization provides free and excellent care services to those with terminal illnesses. With its broad range of truly exceptional works, Masterpiece London has something to offer everyone, from full-time collectors to first time buyers. Design enthusiasts, antique lovers, and art appreciators will not want to miss the highly-anticipated 2013 edition of Masterpiece London.
