Aperture Foundation Benefit Party
With Terminal 5 as the venue, an “open road” theme, and performances by The Kills and AndrewAndrew, this is one benefit gala that’s sure to be far from stodgy. The evening will also include a live auction with works inspired by the road from Alex Prager, Hank Willis Thomas, Matthew Porter, and more.
6:00-11:00 PM. Tickets $150+.

Fierce Creativity at Pace Gallery
This five-day exhibition is curated by the legendary Chuck Close to benefit the nonprofit organization Artists for Peace and Justice. With a list of participating artists that reads like a “who’s who of contemporary art,” we predict this show will be worth carving out time for.
10:00-6:00 PM, until October 25. Free and open to the public.

Exchange Rates: The Bushwick International Expo
This international exposition of artworks and art spaces in and “around” Bushwick will explore the concepts of shared spaces and cultural currencies, both tangible and intangible. Produced by Sluice_, Theodore: Art, and Centotto, it’s likely to be a seminal event and an opportunity to explore one of the most up-and-coming art neighborhoods in the city.
Welcome drinks 8:00 PM at Alaska. Exhibitions open daily 12:00-6:00 PM, until October 26.

McCarren Loves Art! Spotlit Shadows by Mikel Glass
The McCarren Hotel & Pool in Williamsburg recently kicked off this series of art-inflected dance parties. This edition, held in the picturesque rooftop lounge, will feature an environment designed by installation artist Mikel Glass, as well as performances by artists Gage Cass and Ellen Turrietta and video director Kurt Ritta. Music will be provided by Rob Sperte.
October 23. 8:00-12:00 PM. Open to the public.

We Heart NYC Writers Night + Open Mic at Le Poisson Rouge
Featuring five handpicked writers plus a seven slot open mic, it’s a perfect place to draw inspiration or just have a listen. Participating authors include poet Sean DesVignes, journalist Bob LeMoullec, poet Jennifer Faylor, poet Aimee Herman, and fiction writer and Marina Abramović-collaborator Dolan Morgan.
7:00 PM. Tickets $10, must be 21+.

Saturday, October 25
Il Mantovano Hebreo (The Mantuan Jew) at the Met
This rare Renaissance masterpiece by Salomone Rossi will be performed by Israeli male vocal quartet Profeti della Quinta at the Met’s Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium. During the 17th century, Rossi burst through the barriers of discrimination to became one of the most renowned composers and performers in the court of the Gonzaga dukes. Though little is known about him today, the quartet has devoted themselves to spreading his legacy with purity and refinement.
7:00 PM. Tickets $50.

Sunday, October 26
MoMA Ps1’s Fall Open House and Sunday Sessions
MoMA Ps1 will be celebrating their fall exhibition lineup, which includes a retrospective of choreographer and artist Xavier Le Roy, as well as Bob and Roberta Smith’s hilarious Art Amnesty project.
12:00-6:00 PM. Free and open to the public.
