Join Peter deMenocal, a climate scientist at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, in learning about the findings of climate scientists and how they illuminate our understanding of climate change. The talk is presented as part of the series ICP Talks: Climate Change.

Infamous publisher Peter Brant and current art world darling Dan Colen (whose show “Help!” is still on display at the Brant Foundation) will engage in a public conversation at the School of Visual Arts, sponsored by the Brant Foundation. Mark Tribe, Chair of MFA Fine Arts will moderate.
6:30-7:30 PM at SVA Lecture Hall at 133 w. 21st Street. Free and open to the public.

Bruno Latour: Gaia Global Circus at The Kitchen
French philosopher, anthropologist, and sociologist Bruno Latour presents a theatrical experiment inspired by a paradox:  Although we are confronted with global warming and the prospect of mankind’s end, we feel almost nothing.

Thursday, September 25
The New York Art Book Fair Preview at MoMA PS1
Ps1’s legendary art book fair kicks off with a preview party featuring a DJ set by JD Samson followed by a live set by Thurston Moore on the courtyard steps. At 7, Moore will sign copies of his new chapbook of lyrics, The Best Day at the Printed Matter booth. The fair will feature over 350 booksellers, artists, institutions, and independent publishers. Don’t forget to pick up your John Cage tribute album, as well.

Mature Themes: A Book Launch And Reading Organized by Andrew Durbin at the New Museum
To celebrate the release of his book Mature Themes, Andrew Durbin has organized an evening of art, readings, and performance with Harry Burke, Juliana Huxtable, Jacolby Satterwhite, and Jesse Darling.

Saturday, September 27
The Kitchen Presents Danh Vo and Xiu Xiu: Metal
Conceptual artist Danh Vo has brought two Thai gold pounders to the United States to work with the band Xiu Xiu to create an artwork in real time. Set against a backdrop of Vo’s work, the band will generate syncopated compositions with the pounders’ rhythms.
Opening reception 6-8 PM.
