Looks like spring temperatures are slowly creeping in, and so are art events across the pond: first stop, Germany. The largest and oldest art fair for Modern and contemporary art—which, we can’t help but mention, was opened by artnet’s very own founder Hans Neuendorf—ART COLOGNE is back with its historic 50th edition. Galleries from all over the world gather in Cologne to set up booths from April 14 through 17, showcasing the very best of what they have to offer. Young upstart Berlin, meanwhile, is currently busily prepping for its annual Gallery Weekend, expect the city to be slammed with foot traffic as visitors make their way into this year’s 54 participating galleries. And lastly, be sure to check out the 1,300 square-foot sculpture hall opened by Thomas Schütte to house his own works in the town of Hombroich, just southeast of Düsseldorf. This innovative new venue opened just four days ago, and is definitely not to be missed. With all these events to keep you busy, it’s just icing on the cake at this point—you know the drill. Whenever an art fair comes to town, must-see museum and gallery exhibitions soon follow. And lucky you, a bunch are opening tonight, so here’s your rundown:
