Going to Hong Kong next week? You’re in luck. The 43rd Hong Kong Arts Festival is here. Coinciding with newbie Art Basel Hong Kong, now in its third year, this is the place to be. As you use public transportation to get around from event to event, take a moment to appreciate the installation by the K11 Art Foundation, which is partnering with Andrea Rosen Gallery to present Felix González-Torres’s billboard Untitled (1995) in tram shelters and transportation hubs, as well as in the K11 Art Mall throughout the entire city. This is a historically significant moment for the artist as his work is being shown for the first time in Hong Kong.

Another significant event is for self-taught artist Alex Prager, who is holding her debut exhibition in the city at Lehmann Maupin. Her first show this year, showcasing five new, large-scale photographs, is not one to miss. However, if you can’t wait until next week, head over to White Cube to see the galley’s first foray into Chinese art, with an exhibition featuring two mainland Chinese artists Shi Qing and Jiang Zhi, ending this Saturday. This is a chance to see two artists from similar backgrounds with very different styles.

If you’re not arriving in the city until the fair opens, there are plenty of gallery openings that are taking place next week. From Alex Prager at Lehman Maupin and Yoshitomo Nara’s second show at Pace Gallery to Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto at Simon Lee Gallery, there’s plenty to see and do in this populous city.

Whether you live here or are just visiting for the month-long festival, be sure to make time to see these exciting shows.
