If those New Year’s resolutions are already starting to seem like something you can put off until next week, celebrate the start of 2015 with a little culture. For many, the holidays mean travel, whether you’re home spending time with family or jet setting in Europe or Asia, so this week’s guide takes a look at some of the most exciting shows happening around the world.

For those folks whose beach vacations didn’t work out, there are plenty of exhibitions that will transport you to another place. If you find yourself in the Big Apple, stop by Avant Gallery, featuring colorful photographs by Murad Osmann, cataloguing his trip to various exotic locations around the world. There is also “ZERO: Countdown to Tomorrow, 1950s–60s” at the Guggenheim, spotlighting the artistic transformations that took place following World War II. Visitors to Europe can get their modern art fix with a Marcel Duchamp show at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. Or else check out the Horst P. Horst exhibition at the beautiful Victoria and Albert Museum in London. There are also plenty of artsy excursions throughout Asia, including a show of new media works by Alexander Zakharov at AP Contemporary in Hong Kong, and photography by Phaptawan Suwankudt at 100 Tonson Gallery in Bangkok.

Whichever city you find yourself in this week, there are sure to be some great shows for you to start the New Year off right.
