New York City is about to get a little busier than usual, with a slew of important art fairs opening next week, including the ADAA Art Show, VOLTA NY, and the prestigious Armory Show. For those of you whose itineraries are in need of little inspiration, check out some of the exciting exhibitions taking place in the city this month.

Coming off of its highly attended and critically acclaimed exhibition “Chris Ofili: Night and Day,” the New Museum delivers yet again with its 2015 Triennial “Surround Audience.” Reaffirming its commitment to emerging contemporary artists, the New Museum explores the future of culture, particularly in relation to issues of subjectivity and systems of power, through art. Installation art is also spotlighted this month, with a show at Pace Gallery featuring collages and assemblages by Louise Nevelson, and a photography-turned-light exhibition at Galerie Lelong by Alfredo Jaar. For works on paper, stop by Sperone Westwater, whose “Signs/Words” exhibition features some of the most important text artists of the last several decades, including Alighiero Boetti, Bruce Nauman, and Julian Schnabel. There is also “Martin Mull: Endgame,” at Hirschl & Adler Galleries, in which the artist sourced images from period magazines and found photographs to create scenes of social strife that act as a critical investigation of American life.

Opening next week, “Coming Soon” at Anastasia Photo and “Legends (Polaroids)” at Yoshii Gallery present works by two very different photographers. In his new series, “Coming Soon,” Natan Dvir playfully juxtaposes gigantic billboards and seemingly miniature people in commercial environments. In the first exhibition of Sante D’Orazio‘s Polaroids, works from his nearly 30-year career as a fashion photographer are on display.

Whatever your reason for being in New York this month, there is plenty to see. So celebrate the (almost) end of winter with the city’s hottest shows.
