The Feature at Brooklyn Academy of Music
Artist Michael Auder’s The Feature documents over forty years of his life, culled from over 5,000 hours of footage. The film intersperses Auder’s work with Andrew Neel’s video of the artist to create a feature-length film. While not a biography, The Feature blends the real with the fantastical within Auder’s life.

Mad Like Artaud at Albertine
Organized bu Joanna Spinks and Samadhi Arts, this night of celebrating the launch of cultural theorist Sylvère Lotringer’s new book Mad Like Artaud begins with a performance of I Talked About God with Antonin Artaud by Ariana Reines, Todd Torn, and Brad Burgess. The Q&A that follows will be moderated by Bosko Blagojevic, and the evening culminates with a performance of Artaud’s Jet of Blood, directed by Etienne Pierre Duguay.
“All writing is garbage,” Artaud once wrote. “People who come out of nowhere to try to put into words any part of what goes on in their minds are pigs.” See if he’s right.

The White Review No. 14 NYC Launch at SIGNAL Gallery
London-based quarterly arts journal The White Review launches its fourteenth issue in Brooklyn. Danish poet Naja Marie Aidt will read, and art historian and critic Hal Foster will be in conversation with Artforum’s senior editor Julian Rose.

New Theater: Apartment at the Whitney Museum for American Art
In 2013, American artists Calla Henkel and Max Pitegoff started New Theater in Berlin. Artists, writers, and musicians were invited to collaborate and contribute to the plays as performers, set designers, and the like. Although New Theater closed this year, a new iteration of its signature play will take place at the Whitney.

Ethnomuicologist Ozan Aksoy, artist Betty Yu, New School faculty member Judy Pryor-Ramirez, artist Dean Moss, and educator Maritza Arrastia meet to discuss the various forms “communities” take and how they can work together to serve the 99%. How can communities in New York help to sustain the arts as well as artists? Pennee Bender of the American Social History Project at City University of New York will moderate.
