Cory Arcangel Pop-Up Store Sells Everything You Need to Chill in Bed

On May 17 Cory Arcangel is launching a one-day-only pop-up exhibition-cum-store selling his lifestyle and clothing line, Arcangel Surfware. Hosted by the Holiday Inn New York-Soho, “You Only Live Once” will offer loungewear and other items that will fashionably outfit you for a day spent relaxing in bed.

Unlike traditional surfware, Arcangel’s offerings are designed with a less outdoorsy activity in mind: surfing the web. His store will offer sweat pants and sweat shirts, bed sheets, pillow cases, iPad and iPhone covers, magazines, and music, all meant to enhance the experience of using the Internet. Prices will range from $39.95 to $495.95.

“I’ve been surfing the world wide web nearly since its inception, and I just haven’t seen a fully integrated and consistently designed line of products aimed at making the experience more comfortable, more personal, and ultimately more relaxing,” explained Arcangel in a press release. “Arcangel Surfware will help one unwind in style—and comfort—while still participating in the digital and virtual environments of their choice.”

The “You Only Live Once” pop-up will be Arcangel’s first New York solo exhibition since 2011’s “Pro Tools” at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Arcangel Surfware seems perfectly designed to make us all feel better about those lazy Sundays wasted binge-watching Netflix in our pajamas. If it’s a lifestyle choice, with specially selected accessories, then it’s got to be cool, right? (Of course, if that’s how you want to think about it, we’d advise that you don’t attempt to analyze the “You Only Live Once” exhibition name.)
