The director of the Musée des Impressionismes in Giverny, France, will leave his post on August 31 to join the Centre Pompidou-Metz as general secretary, the Quotidien de l’Art reports. “This appointment in such a major organization is a real challenge for me,” he told the French publication. “I’m going back to my first love, contemporary art, after many years spent with 19th century art.”

He succeeds Emmanuel Martinez, who was appointed at Paris’ Porte Dorée – Musée de l’Histoire de l’Immigration in December 2013.
