Since its relaunch on the Lower East Side in 2007, the New Museum has carved out an identity as the most tech-savvy of New York’s museums, so it’s fitting that Google Glass will be the lead sponsor for its third triennial—which is being curated by Lauren Cornell and Ryan Trecartin and slated to open in February 2015. In addition to sponsoring the exhibition, Google Glass will team up with the New Museum to create a user engagement app designed specifically for visitors using Google Glass, making those of us wielding mere smartphones feel like dinosaurs.
“We are pleased to be working with the groundbreaking creative team at Google Glass,” New Museum director Lisa Phillips said in a statement. “Their commitment to innovation will support our own interest in how technology can advance new ideas in both art and in museums. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the company’s inventive minds to explore new ways that technology can enhance public engagement and improve visitor experience at the Museum.”
