If it routinely takes you 30 or more attempts to get your selfies just right, you may be interested in enrolling in the world’s first selfie course to earn a qualification in ‘The Art of Self-Portraiture.’

According to Digital Trends, as of March 2015, London’s City Lit College will be offering a £132 ($200) month-long course exploring the history of self-portrait photography and teaching participants how to perfect their skills.

The course website promises a series of sessions, including lectures, presentations, seminars, discussions, and group work, designed to “improve your critical understanding of the photographic self-portrait,” and to “develop your ideas to produce a coherent body of work.” Additionally students will be taught how self portrait photography effects “notions of identity, selfhood, and memory,” by examining the work of “a variety of practitioners.”

The course also seeks to develop participants’ photographic skill set by showing students how to “use light and significant detail in your work to good effect,” whilst helping them to “develop new ideas to make your photography more relevant to your aims,” and “approaching technical problems with more confidence.”

The course invites “everyone from any background, who has engaged in self portrait – even in the most casual way” to enroll.
