It doesn’t get much better than springtime in the city plus art sightseeing, if you ask me. But alas, Munich hasn’t yet benefited from warmer weather—it’s been unseasonably snowing instead. Oh well, best cheer yourself up by getting cozy at any number of the terrific exhibitions currently on view, starting with the double whammy of Philip Lachenmann at Galerie Andreas Binder. Then, you can’t go wrong with the killer line-up at Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle, which is currently hosting powerhouse German photographers Candida Höfer, Thomas Ruff, and Thomas Struth. For some beautiful Expressionist paintings, head over to Galerie Thomas’ show of August Macke, which also features some intimate drawings that capture the artist’s daily life and surroundings at the turn of the 20th century. Finally, if you haven’t been to it yet, there’s still time to see bombastic contemporary painting survey at the Pinakothek der Moderne—but only through May 1, so don’t dawdle too much.

Bundle up, and head on out there.
