Must-See Art Guide: New York

This week's guide features Ron Gorchov, Weegee, Vija Celmins, and more.

Had enough yet? We’re only a couple of days into New York’s art fair week and I wouldn’t blame you if you’re already feeling beat. Obviously, with the Armory and Spring Break and VOLTA and the rest, you’re already overwhelmed with options. But if you’re looking to step outside the art fair circuit—and you should!—you’ve also got a jam-packed week ahead of you. In Chelsea, don’t miss Ron Gorchov’s latest exhibition of his signature “saddle” paintings at Cheim & Read, and if you haven’t made it yet to the Alice Neel show at David Zwirner curated by Hilton Als, let us remind you why it’s the most talked about gallery show in town, and for good reason. Uptown, you’ve got a selection of unbeatable Weegee photographs at Howard Greenberg Gallery, and over on the Bowery you’ve got a dizzying array of op and kinetic art at GR Gallery if you feel like being hypnotized. (Speaking of hypnotization, have you seen Get Out? Do that, too!)

Gather a second wind, because you’re going to need it. Happy gallery hopping.
