Must-See Art Guide: Vienna

This week's guide features Katharina Fritsch, Uri Aran, Annemarie Avramidis, and more.

There’s enough art in Vienna to keep you busy running around all week. With viennacontemporary in full swing, 100 galleries from 26 countries are presenting their wares at the historic Marx Halle in one of Europe’s largest fairs of contemporary art. But beyond the hall itself, you’ve got a jam-packed itinerary courtesy of local galleries: Head to Galerie nächst St. Stephan for steamy and sensuous work of Katharina Fritsch, Christopher Williams, and Mircea Cantor. Then, visit Galerie Meyer Kainer for a playful group show curated by none other than Liam Gillick. For the subtle, rough-hewn sculpture of Annemarie Avramidis, be sure to stop by Galerie Bei Der Albertina, Zetter GmbH, or for the photorealist paintings of Richard Kaplenig, make Lukas Feichtner Gallery your next stop.
