Hollywood actor Antonio Banderas is setting aside his acting hat and trying his hand at something new: fashion.

Who would have known the Zorro actor and voice of Puss n’ Boots had an itch for the rag trade?

Banderas, 55, announced last March on a British talk show ITV’s Loose Women that he would be moving to London to attend the industry’s top school Central Saint Martin’s (CSM), according to People Style Watch. He told the show, “It’s something that has been on my mind for a long time and probably one of the best schools in the world is here, Saint Martins University, and so I am going to start studying with them.”

The arts school is famed for producing fashion luminaries including Céline’s Phoebe Philo, Stella McCartney, John Galliano, and the late Alexander McQueen.

It seems the actor has officially started his studies at CSM. This Monday, the actor tweeted out “The 2nd week of studies at Central St Martin begins. Intense, exciting, serious and fun all the same time” with a picture of him sporting a laid-back look in a backwards cap and sweater hugging mannequins.

While the school’s masters program is no longer headed by legendary professor Louise Wilson, who died earlier this year, it is ranked by Business of Fashion as the number one program for “global influence.”

Will he be more accepted by the cut-throat fashion world as a celebrity designer than Kanye? Only time will tell. As Heidi Klum’s says, “one day you’re in, the next day you’re out.”

We’re hoping his agility at sword fighting matches up with his sewing.
