Director Stuart Krimko has left David Kordansky Gallery, gallery co-director Kurt Mueller confirmed.

“Art Basel was his swansong,” said Mueller, who will be taking on some of Krimko’s responsibilities at the gallery, which represents artists including Jonas Wood, Rashid Johnson, Anthony Pearson, and Mary Weatherford.

Krimko joined the gallery roughly four years ago after leaving Chelsea’s Max Protech gallery, which changed its name to Meulensteen before closing for good in 2012.

Mueller said that Krimko left the gallery to pursue his writing. “He’s a poet,” said Mueller. “He has passions beyond the artists.” As an online search quickly reveals, Krimko has published three books of poetry including “The Sweetness of Herbert” (2009), and “Hymns and Essays” (2012), and has also translated another, “The Last Books of Héctor Viel Temperley” (2011).

Krimko could not be reached for comment. Best of luck to him in his literary endeavors!
