International photography fair Paris Photo will arrive in New York City for the first time this April now that it has paired with AIPAD, the Association of International Photography Art Dealers. Today they unveiled their lineup of 126 galleries and 47 publishers from 24 countries, handpicked by their selection committee (the complete list is below).

The fair will run from April 2–5 at Pier 94 on the far West Side of Manhattan. The exhibitors chosen for the inaugural edition “reflect the history of the fair as a hub for photographic exchange and exploration, both through the past and into the future”, according to Paris Photo director Florence Bourgeois.

In a phone interview from Paris with Artnet News, Bourgeois noted the synergy of combining Paris Photo and AIPAD’s expertise to come up with a dynamic combination of historic, established, and emerging artists.

Another much-anticipated highlight of the inaugural edition is the participation of art critic and author Antwaun Sargent, who has been tapped to guest curate the “[RE]Emergence” sector. Paris Photo artistic director Christoph Wiesner told Artnet News that Sargent’s involvement “opens the fair to contemporary energy.” Similarly, Wiesner nodded to the fair’s inclusion of young talents like Tyler Mitchell, who will be part of Paris Photo’s talks programming.

Bourgeois also stressed the continued importance of books with respect to how Paris Photo “promotes photography and appeals to new collectors. The fair will feature 47 publishers and include multiple book signings as well. Further info regarding specific talks, exhibitions, events, and signing sessions will be announced in early March.

Elsewhere, visitors can delve deeper into individual artists courtesy of 15 solo shows in the main sector, from artists that include Gregory Halpern, Joel Sternfeld, Dutch photographer Bastiaan Woudt, Brazilian artist Mario Cravo Neto, Bob Gruen, and Sofia Valentine. The latter will present a dramatic project at Daniel Blau that includes an actual 41-foot freight boat as a tribute to the vibrant pioneer spirit of the Florida Everglades.
