Veteran performance artist Carolee Schneemann is now represented in London by Hales Gallery. The artist made history with pieces such as the Dionysian Meat Joy (1964), which involved naked performers frolicking about, smeared in paint and blood. She is also known for her landmark feminist Interior Scroll (1975), in which she extracted a scroll from her vagina and read out from it.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the gallery’s inaugural solo show with the artist, her first in the British capital.
