Marylyn Dintenfass Delves into the Human Soul

Marylyn Dintenfass opens her New York studio for a look into her daily life, her work and her current exhibition of new paintings, OCULUS, at Driscoll Babcock in Manhattan’s Chelsea Arts District.
Inspired by the oculus in architecture and drawn to circular motifs, Dintenfass has created an epic new series of colorful pictures. Each painting reflects on a different experience, with colors as characters and design as plot.
Dintenfass has emerged over the last four decades as a leading contemporary artist known for her innovative approach to materials and technologies as a painter, sculptor, printmaker and installation artist. Her work is held in public collections in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and throughout the United States.
Marylyn Dintenfass has been the subject of monographs by Lilly Wei, Aliza Edelman, Scott Indrisek and a new exhibition catalogue written by Julie Baumgardener. Her work has been reviewed by the New York Times, artnet News, Artnews, Blouin Artinfo, and Huffington Post. Her 2011 and 2013 solo shows at Driscoll Babcock were both recognized by Modern Painters magazine as among the top 100 exhibitions world-wide.
OCULUS is on view at Driscoll Babcock Galleries through October 24th.
