In honor of what would have been Andy Warhol‘s “golden birthday” (when you turn the age of your birth date, for those uninitiated), we’ve tracked down some pictures from legendary shindigs that may or may not have been in honor of the occasion. But, really, who needs an occasion for a party when you’re Andy Warhol?

While these pictures prove that Factory girl Edie Sedgwick knew how to boogie, the rest of the crew, which included Gerard Melanga, Paul Morrissey, Nico, and on occasion, Jean-Michel Basquiat, seemed content just to stand around looking impeccably cool. We can’t say we blame them.
