The Aspen Art Museum and the Aspen Skiing Company have announced that Laura Owens is the latest artist to design a lift ticket for the upcoming ski season.

Owens, whose design for the 2016-2017 season will feature a recurring motif in her work: lemons. She joins a list of celebrated artists that have previously designed lift tickets, including Yutaka Sone, Peter Doig, Karen Kilimnik, Jim Hodges, Carla Klein, Mamma Andersson, Mark Grotjahn, David Shrigley, Mark Bradford, Anne Collier, and Takashi Murakami.

Owens’s 11 new tickets will debut on the opening day of the new season, which lands on November 24 this year. Tickets with last year’s artwork—designed by Murakami—are currently still available for sale, according to the Aspen Art Museum.

In addition to the lift tickets, the museum and the ski company have collaborated on the installation of on-site projects on the mountain, by Sone and Grotjahn, as well as artists Patterson Beckwith, Teresita Fernández, Dave Muller, Susan Philpsz, Lars Ø. Ramberg, Mark Wallinger, and Jennifer West.

New York-based artist Shinique Smith’s site-specific mural, Resonant Tides (2015), is also on view at Elk Camp on Snowmass for the length of the 2016-2017 season. The work reflects myriad influences—from Japanese calligraphy to Abstract Expressionism—that appear in her work to address cultural and social issues surrounding production, consumption, and waste.
