Open to photographers of all ages and skill levels, the annual photography contest hosted by the World Photography Organization (WPO) seeks to identify the year’s best photography. Since the Awards program launched in 2007, it has garnered over 700,000 submissions from over 230 countries, which is more countries than we even knew existed!
The organization’s aim is to showcase the work of talented individuals—whether they are professional artists or amateurs—from around the globe. Participants enter in one of the four categories: professional (for those making a living from photography), student (for those studying photography), youth (for those under 19 years of age), and open (for the enthusiasts).
The competition, which is based in London, will give finalists and winners the chance to exhibit their work at the city’s historic Somerset House, and have their photographs published in the annual WPO book.

Contestants have until January 5, 2015 to submit their work for this year’s Awards.
