THE DAILY PIC (#1812): When I look at the fascinating art of Martin Boyce, I always feel as though I’ve entered one of those alternate universes of science fiction, where everything is almost the same as in ours—but not quite. In Boyce’s current show at Tanya Bonakdar in New York, I was most struck by the strange little electrical outlet that he’s stuck in the wall: It wouldn’t fit any appliance on earth but would be happy feeding one on earth-two. The moldings that he’s installed around his outlet hint at a world where modernism has a much longer history than on ours, so that even Beaux Arts detailing has Constructivist angles.
