When it comes to the glitz and glamour of celebrity culture, Amy Schumer isn’t a fan.
In a candid interview with radio host Howard Stern yesterday, the comedienne discussed everything from the details of her sex life with furniture designer Ben Hanisch, to her experience adjusting to the high life; and as it turns out, the star didn’t react too well to the annual Met Gala, an exclusive star-studded event that attracts celebrities and insiders from the fashion and art industries.
Stern asked Schumer whether or not she enjoyed attending parties that hosted “wonderful celebrity types,” to which Schumer quickly answered with a no. “It’s people doing an impression of having a conversation,” Amy is heard saying in the video clip below. “I don’t like the farce.”
Stern then moved on to ask her about Anna Wintour’s Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which she attended earlier this year. She conceded to leaving earlier than she should have been allowed to, and vowed never to return. “I’m not trying to make lots of celebrity friends,” Schumer explained. “The people that I care about… I have to keep it so real with them.”
Aside from the opportunity to meet Beyoncé, Schumer prefers eschewing red carpet events and takes greater pleasure in building genuine connections with stars like Taylor Swift. “We’re dressed up like a bunch of fucking assholes,” Schumer added, according to the Daily Mail. “I don’t like it…I don’t care.”
