Now that the fuss of Armory week has died down, let’s turn our sights back to Europe. Find yourself in Belgium? Head to its lovely capital city: Once home to the master Peter Paul Rubens, Antwerp has plenty of culture to offer with its world-class museum collections—but let’s not overlook what the city holds in terms of contemporary exhibition spaces, too.

Start by hurrying to a few shows closing this weekend, if you haven’t seen them already: Tim van Laere Gallery is currently hosting the group exhibition “Always Trust the Artist” with an illustrious roster that includes Marcel Dzama, Andrian Ghenie, and Jonathan Meese, to name a few. Then pop on over to the Middelheim Museum for the charming “Recall Sculpture” survey, which focuses on tabletop figurative sculpture—probably an undervalued genre due for a comeback, if you ask me—by Post-War artists like Marino Marini, Pietro Consagra, and Elisabeth Schaar. You should also make time for GALLERY FIFTY ONE and its solo presentation of the work of local artist Katrien De Blauwer, whose recent collage works are “full of movement, sensuality and, above all, mystery,” as the gallery explains. Be sure to also visit Zeno X Gallery while you’re at it, where German artist Grace Schwindt presents delicate work in a variety of media, such as ceramics, glass, and watercolor.

Looks like Antwerp is due for a weekend of cold and rain, so I’m afraid you’ll have to bundle up while you’re out there. Find artnet’s full list of picks below, and happy art hunting.
