Quiz: You’re at a Fair and Everyone’s Wearing Masks. Can You Recognize These Art-World Mainstays From the Tops of Their Faces Alone?
It's one of the gravest challenges facing the art world today.
Sarah Cascone
As the art world descended (via limited reserved time slots) upon the Shed for Frieze New York, art lovers found themselves facing a new challenge: recognizing friends and colleagues wearing protective face masks.
Whether or not you’re venturing to Frieze this year, you’ve probably found yourself similarly tested when running into someone for the first time since the start of lockdown. It can make networking, the raison d’etre of the art industry (right after money), quite a challenge.
The mask does offer a helpful excuse in the event that you’ve straight forgotten that old coworker whose name you can’t recall—who hasn’t been there?—but it certainly makes recognizing distant acquaintances you actually like all the more difficult.
With that in mind, we’ve got a challenge for you: can you recognize these art-world V.I.P.s from the tops of their faces alone?
Good luck!
