This weekend, high-profile collector Beth Rudin DeWoody will share more than 200 of her contemporary artworks with the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida. “The Triumph of Love: Beth Rudin DeWoody Collects” will include a wide array of paintings, sculpture, drawings, and new media. Featured artists will include Bruce Connor, Nicole Eisenman, Jim Lambie, Liza Lou, Sylvie Fleury, and Isamu Noguchi, as well as emerging artists.

Included in artnet News’s list of The 100 Most Powerful Women in Art: Part Three, DeWoody has been collecting since the 1970s, and the exhibition shows the evolution of her collection over the four decades. The show takes its name from an early Cy Twombly drawing in the exhibition, and also references the collector’s passion for art.

DeWoody is also instrumental in the Norton’s Rudin Prize for emerging photographers, named after her father and most recently presented to Rami Maymon (see Israeli Rami Maymon Wins the Rudin Prize for Emerging Photography). The museum recently announced that it had raised half of the necessary funds for its Foster + Partners—designed expansion project, scheduled to break ground next year (see Norton Museum of Art Has Funded Half Its Foster + Partners Expansion)

“We are so fortunate to present work from Beth’s unrivaled collection,” said Cheryl Brutvan, the museum’s director of curatorial affairs and curator of contemporary art, in a statement. “The exhibition offers the opportunity to examine how her tastes have evolved over time and glimpse her wide-ranging interests, from geometric abstraction to the California light and space artists. She is a fascinating, adventurous, and passionate collector.”

“The Triumph of Love: Beth Rudin DeWoody Collects” will be on view at the Norton Museum of Art, West Palm Beach, Florida, February 8–May 3, 2015.
