Bottega Veneta’s creative director Tomas Maier chose a stunning backdrop to feature the luxury brand’s Fall/Winter collection. Set in New Canaan, Connecticut, the Lee House 2 is a Modernist gem with an impressive lineage.

The architectural wonder home was built in 1956 by John Black Lee, who worked alongside the notable Harvard Five architects; Philip Johnson, John M. Johansen, Marcel Breuer, Landis Gores, and Eliot Noyes. The house was restored in the 1990s by architect Toshiko Mori, and updated with an addition in 2010, as the first US-based project for starchitect Kengo Kuma.

Of course, the setting is only as impressive as the photographer who captures it. For the seasonal photo shoot, Maier once again teamed up with the famed photographer Todd Hido to highlight brand’s unique aesthetic within the Modernist setting.

Maier and Hido have worked together before—most recently for Bottega’s Spring/Summer campaign featuring Lauren Hutton and Joan Smalls. Of the photographer, Maier says, “His images speak quietly yet extremely suggestively in a subtle way, and his use of light and color creates moods that are unique.”

This photo shoot marks the continuation of Bottega’s “Art of Collaborations” project, which has included star photographers like Annie Leibovitz, Nan Goldin, Ryan McGinley, Stephen Shore, and Jurgen Teller. Now, a new element has been added to the campaign—a short film entitled “Mixed Messages.” Featuring four models donning the Fall/Winter 2017 collection and shot against the gorgeous Modernist structure, the film represents a new platform for Hido to expand on the cinematic prowess of his still photography.
