Does the leading Republican presidential candidate make you want to hurl?
Well, you’re not the only one.
Lydia Leith, an artist from the city of Carlisle, in northwest England, has created an air sickness bag emblazoned with the shouting face of New York real estate developer Donald J. Trump.
His face appears under the message “Make America Regurgitate Again,” riffing on The Donald’s famous “Make America Great Again” slogan.
“Keep this handy in November 2016,” reads another line on the bag.
“Lots of people here in the UK can’t believe he is serious (especially about building a giant wall etc.),” the artist told artnet News by email, referring to Trump’s promise to erect a wall to keep out immigrants coming from south of the US border.
If you’re worried that Trump may actually make it to the White House, or if you just want to have one handy next time he makes one of his notorious remarks about, say, women or Mexicans, you can order one, hand-signed by the artist, for just £3.00 (just over $4). The artist is already selling a second edition, the first one, of 200, having quickly sold out to buyers throughout Europe and the US.
Many other artists have found inspiration in the short-fingered vulgarian. Philip Kremer posts bizarre portraits of Trump on Instagram; Illma Gore rebuts his claim of a sizable genital endowment; and “Humans of New York” photographer Brandon Stanton penned a Trump takedown that may be Facebook’s most-shared post ever.
Leith has designed other clever sick bags, including a Valentine’s Day-themed one in case you’re “love sick” and another, in case you get fed up with holiday cheer, that wishes you “Merry Christmas and a Happy Spew Year.”
Leith’s website lists clients including British Airways, Hudson Shoes, and Pimm’s. You can pick up her other products, including notebooks, mugs, and greeting cards, at places like the shops at the Institute of Contemporary Art London and the Tate Modern shop.
If Texas Senator Ted Cruz also turns your stomach, Leith is up for other commissions, she tells artnet News.
