Following widespread outcry against the Zuckerman Museum of Art’s censorship of work by local artist Ruth Stanford, Georgia’s Kennesaw State University has offered to reinstall the piece, A Walk in the Valley, at a later date.

In a statement released by the university in response to a petition at MoveOn.org, the school stood by its decision not to include Stanford’s work during the museum’s opening, but stated its intentions to display the installation at a more “appropriate” time.

Stanford, for her part, has not yet decided if she will take the museum up on its offer, telling Burnaway “the work has been completely re-contextualized. It’s no longer the work that I intended… I appreciate the offer to reinstate the work and am giving it serious consideration.”
