1. “Marina Abramović in Brazil: The Space in Between” at the Museum of the Moving Image
Director Marco Del Fiol and producer Minom Pinho screen their new film, Marina Abramović in Brazil: The Space in Between, which follows the legendary 70-year-old performance artist Marina Abramović on a spiritual journey through Brazil. It’s billed as road trip meets “spiritual thriller.” All three will be on hand afterward for a chat with New York Magazine’s Carl Swanson.

2. Amanda Dow Thompson, “Slippery When Wet” at Causey Contemporary
Amanda Dow Thompson creates intricate, organic looking sculptures, each carved from a single piece of lumber. The surprisingly elegant and sensual works, made using traditionally masculine power tools, are “about this bending over we have to do to fit in to what is expected of women, of femininity, of motherhood,” the artist told Art of the Times. See what she means this Thursday.

3. #trashDAY LIVE at MoCADA
Artists Kenya (Robinson) and Doreen Garner have been taking out the art world’s trash for over a year now on Clocktower Radio, and Friday marks their first live appearance on air at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Fort Greene. Guests should be ready for “Barbara Walters, Oprah Winfrey, and a dollop of Robin Roberts,” according to Elliott Brown Jr., Exhibitions Coordinator at MoCADA. There will also be some exhibition-themed beverages from our favorite on-air duo.

4. Night at the Museum: Artists Holiday Party at MoMA PS1
Break out the festive sweaters and head to PS1, where you can see the exhibitions after hours on Friday evening. There’s spiked hot chocolate, and the dome will transform into a giant snow globe.

5. Harlem Holiday Market
Vintage clothing from boutique JB born, head wraps and jewelry from Fanm Djanm, and accessories and clothes from Mawusi are all on offer at the Studio Museum in Harlem’s first Harlem Holiday Market.

6. “Detour: Anne Wu and Amie Cunat, an Artist Dialogue Series Event” at New York Public Library
Anne Wu, whose colorfully-layered work is currently on view in “Detour,” a window art installation at the library, talks with fellow artist Amie Cunat about the artistic process. The two will delve into how art exists in the urban environment.

7. “A Fine Line” at ART100 New York
This new outpost of Hong Kong’s ART100 Gallery just touched down in Chelsea last week. Works by Olivier Catté, Mahmoud Hamadani, Alan Sonfist, and Wang Huangsheng are on view.
