For the past two weeks the French street artist Invader has been scuffing up Hong Kong streets and alleys with his signature brand of graffiti art–3D mosaics made of small tiles cemented into place. “I don’t try to damage the walls of the city, I try to add something new and nice and I think the people of Hong Kong are receptive to this,” he told Lana Lam of the South China Morning Post.

More than 35 works are now spread all over the city, several of them his eponymous signature– a Space Invader alien figure from the 1970s arcade game, rendered in blurry computer-generated pixels.  The artist remains anonymous, speaking to reporters in disguise though he is described as in his forties, tall, thin with a sense of humour.
