New York street artist Hanksy is not a fan of The Donald, judging by a mural he painted last week on New York’s Lower East Side. In it, the distinctive face and coiffure of Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump appears atop a pile of feces.
An image of the mural appears on Hanksy’s Instagram account, pithily captioned “What a piece of shit.”
Trump has displaced establishment candidates like Jeb Bush from the top of the public opinion polls, and outraged Latino Americans with pronouncements like the one he made when he announced his candidacy. He asserted that Mexico is sending criminals across the border to the U.S.: “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”
The real estate developer and reality television star has also made crude remarks about women and regularly taunts and insults other Republican hopefuls.
Hanksy got his start with a parody of the work of renowned British Street artist Banksy—his LES mural superimposed the face of Tom Hanks on the familiar image of a rat by Banksy (get it? Banksy + Hanks = Hanksy).
It’s not Hanksy’s first time mocking Trump. Six weeks ago, just after Trump announced his run, he offered posters for order via his website showing the candidate sporting a sombrero and surrounded by images of tacos, piñatas, margaritas and a ukulele, captioned “Trump for presidente 2016.”
