Harry Brant, son of mega-collector, philanthropist, and publishing magnate Peter Brant, was arrested on Thursday after failing to pay a taxi driver in Greenwich, Connecticut. Police say they found drugs on the socialite when they searched him after he resisted arrest.
According to Greenwich Time, the 20-year-old was reprimanded by police after fleeing on foot to avoid paying his $27.85 taxi fare.
At first, Brant insisted that he had not taken a taxi, but then owned up to the crime. He reportedly told cops that he did not have enough money to pay the cabbie. A police report described the socialite as “sweating profusely and pale in color.”
When police officers tried to arrest him, Brant allegedly tried to make a run for it. According to the police report, “Officers were able to grab ahold of Brant and take him to the ground. Brant continued to resist officers’ attempts to place him under arrest by tensing his muscles while swinging his arms and kicking his legs.”
After restraining and handcuffing him, police searched the young Brant and found him to be in possession of a white substance which was later confirmed as a narcotic. Although he was not carrying ID, a policeman at the scene recognized the young man.
Brant was charged with larceny, resisting arrest, and drug possession, and is scheduled to appear in court on August 4.
In March, Brant’s older brother Peter Jr. was arrested at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport for acting “drunk and belligerent” and starting a fight with a Port Authority officer. The 22-year-old fashion model, who was called an idiot by his lawyer, was also ticketed for marijuana possession in Red Hook, Brooklyn in 2014.
In January, the boys’ mother, former model Stephanie Seymour, was arrested in Greenwich for damaging a city utility pole and a vehicle when she was driving while intoxicated.
