Authorities believe a body found in the Hudson River August 10 could be Ian Jones, the boyfriend of model and artist Tali Fruchtmann. Jones went missing August 8 after their kayak overturned. Fruchtmann is the daughter of pop star and former Eurythmics member Annie Lennox and film producer Uri Fruchtmann. She uses her father’s last name professionally.
According to the Associated Press, the body found near the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club matches the description of 32-year old Jones. Fruchtmann was rescued by a passing boat after she and Jones were separated when the boat capsized. Neither was wearing a life vest.
The Dutchess County sheriff’s office released a statement saying: “Just after 12:00 pm on [Monday] a human male body was located in the Hudson river near the Poughkeepsie yacht club. The body has been removed, and is scheduled to undergo an autopsy on Tuesday to determine the cause of death and identification.”
The sheriff’s office said further information will be released once the autopsy is complete and an official identification has been made.
Fruchtmann and Jones were in the Hudson Valley to attend a gathering at a private residence in the area near Mills Mansion, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. Sheriff’s Capt. John Watterson told the Journal that alcohol may have played a role in the accident but that there is no suspicion of criminal activity.
Earlier this year, Fruchtmann made her debut on the New York art scene with a solo show at the Catherine Ahnell Gallery in Soho.
