The Institute of Contemporary Art Miami has announced that its latest home, in the city’s Design District, will officially open on December 1, 2017, mere days before Art Basel Miami opens for its next year’s edition.

Although it was originally anticipated to open in late 2016, the project has been subject to several postponements but now the facility’s construction is on track to meet its new deadline. Designed by the Spanish firm Aranguren & Gallegos Arquitectos, the space will feature more than 20,000 square feet of gallery space and a 15,000 square foot public sculpture garden, allowing the institute to broaden its cultural and programming reach on both a local and international level.

ICA Miami has further announced that it will kick-start these ambitious goals by presenting a major post-war to present day group survey exhibition as its first show.

Titled “The Everywhere Studio,” the exhibition will intimately explore the artist’s studio through an exposition of roughly one hundred multimedia sculptures, paintings, installations, and videos. With works by artists such as Andy Warhol, Bruce Nauman, Laure Prouvost, Carolee Schneemann, and Andrea Zittel on view, the exhibition will inaugurate the new site’s special exhibition galleries with “the most ambitious and broad-ranging survey mounted to date by ICA Miami,” according to a statement.

Through a chronological look at works by emerging artists alongside those of their post-war predecessors, “The Everywhere Studio” will offer visitors a novel perspective on the artists’ ever-changing site of creation, and organic blur between life, production, performance, and spectacle that encompasses their process.

In an effort to become a dynamic cultural hub and community resource, admission to the ICA Miami’s new permanent home will be free of charge for all visitors. Further information regarding tickets and opening hours will be available on their website.
